Arthur was a rich man. Arthur was a rich man, who rarely kept up with the fads of other rich people. From diamonds to silk, Arthur rarely bothered to fulfill the expected role of rich collector of useless trinkets.
However, this bot fad was becoming more and more attractive.
Arthur had a large house. A large, fancy, empty house. These bots, while certainly not human, did have a look of normal humans, and would provide decent company to someone gullible enough to buy one. Which Arthur certainly was not.
Which did not explain why he was currently in the finest bot establishment in Eishoff, sipping a glass of rum and listening to the man show him many different pretty girl bots to fawn over him.
Arthur bored look strode across the shop, before landing on that of an Asian boy. ". . . What about him?" He asked, crossing the shop to the boy. He knelt, smiling a little at the almost sleeping face. "Turn him on." He ordered, watching the other man scramble to obey.

“Ah...that would be [100914] I believe,” the man said quickly, rushing over to where Arthur had pointed. “Chinese male, only about 16 years or so – answers to the name ‘JIN’. Oh, and he’s a F.A.C.U. model – they’re less expensive than the F.A.C.U. Enviros I showed you earlier, but that’s because they still need to be plugged in for charging, which is...i-is obviously of no concern to you,” he laughed nervously, seeing the impatient look on the blonde’s face.
“His switch is...um, well,” he blanched, gesturing vaguely towards the bot’s legs. “The boys at the factory can be a bit unsavoury with their design choices you see, s-so, please don’t let this tarnish your perception of my store, Mister Kirkland sir.”
The salesperson knelt down and grazed his hand over the bot’s inner thigh, pausing for a moment and pressing down after locating the intimately placed switch. He stood up and smiled nervously at the strong browed blond before giving the two some space. The first few moments of interaction could make or break a sale, and he hoped the Chinese bot left a good impression. It had come off rather quiet and detached towards some of his previous customers, so needless to say, his hopes weren’t exactly high.
There was a short, soft whir as the bot started up, his fingers twitching slightly as the charge ran through his body – Jin opened his golden eyes slowly, blinking a few times before looking up at the Englishman. He observed him quietly for a few moments, taking in everything – from his height to his posture to his expression, even his choice of alcohol. The last thing he looked at were the man’s eyes – deep and green, with a tinge of something Jin couldn’t quite identify – it confused him, but not necessarily in a bad way. Who was this man? He wanted to know. He had to have been woken up for a reason, right?
Maybe...
Jin shrank back a bit, a hopeful expression briefly crossing his features as his lips parted, uttering a single word, barely above a whisper.
“...Daddy?”

A surprised look crossed Arthur's phrase at how the bot addressed him. After a moment, the look melted into a soft smile and he offered a hand to him. "Jin?" He asked softly, waiting for the bot to come closer. "I'm very happy to have found you." He commented, reaching forward and setting his hand on Jin's shoulder, patting gently.
He glanced at the previously ignored salesman and nodded. "Yes."

Jin stared at the hand for a moment before simply wrapping his arms around Arthur’s slim frame, burying his face in the man’s soft sweater vest and nodding. His default program allowed him to realise that Arthur smelled of the ocean, and while Jin wasn't exactly sure what that was, he liked it.
“Y-Yes?” the salesman repeated, genuinely surprised. He was afraid the blond would take the bot’s greeting as an insult to his age or appearance – certainly not everyone would have been as charmed to be called ‘daddy’. “Oh, yes! Right then, I’ll go ring you up right now! Erm, if you like, I could get that little glitch fixed for you? A man of your stature certainly wouldn’t want one of these things running around calling you that, right?”

Arthur smiled fondly, petting Jin's hair gently and returning the hug. He glanced as the salesman kept talking. ". . . What glitch?" He demanded quite gruffly. "I don't see or hear any glitch." His arm tightened slightly around Jin. "He's perfectly fine . . . And do not refer to him as a thing."
The blonde gently eased back, coaxing the boy up to the counter. "Just a few more things, lad, and then we'll go home, alright?"

Jin blinked and took a few tentative steps forward, wincing slightly as a ray of sun hit his eyes. He really wasn’t used to...anything just yet, and hadn’t ever seen anything outside the store. He wondered what sort of things were out there, and what kind of people he’d meet. Were they all as interesting as the blond? Or...were they more like the salesman? His face fell slightly, extremely nervous and mildly overwhelmed with all the information he was trying to process.
“Wh-what glitch?” the man laughed nervously, mentally putting his hand into a meat grinder. “Did I say glitch? I meant...I meant...I dunno what I meant,” he sighed, sliding Arthur’s card in defeat. Tapping his finger against the cash register, the man continued to read off the features that the small bot came with, including preprogrammed cooking, cleaning, and even piano playing.
“And here you are,” the salesman prompted, handing Arthur a small booklet. “That’s your owner’s manual – everything and anything you’ll need to know about bots is in there. If you have anymore questions, there’s a number for technical support on the back cover, and page 55~ ...Oh!”
He pulled Jin forward, quickly turning him around and opening a small panel in on the back of his skull, revealing a blinking keypad. The bot looked slightly uncomfortable, but said nothing, keeping his eyes trained on Arthur’s shoes. As the man punched in a few numbers to allow for owner access, a bright blush crossed his cheeks.
Thing...thing...he was just a thing? To the salesman, yes...just a thing...
“Please just type in your SSN, and he’ll be fully registered!”

Arthur nodded through the salesman's babbling, still holding onto Jin. Once the boy was grabbed, a startled noise left Arthur's mouth and scowl quickly set in. "Be gentle with him!" He snapped, a glower leveling on the other man. "How would you like to snatched like that?"
He let out a huff after a second, and eased around the bot, resting a hand on his shoulder. As Arthur punched in his social security number, his thumb brushed past Jin's shoulder, hoping to comfort him a little. "There. It's in." The blonde stepped back, still keeping his hand on Jin's shoulder.

“Mr. Kirkland, with all due respect, any ‘emotion’ you think you’re seeing in these bots is provided by a computer chip,” the salesman huffed, tired of being berated. “Despite the advanced technology, what you’re telling me to do is the equivalent of apologizing to a toaster for leaving it plugged in for too long.”
Honestly, he was worse than those crazy rich women who dressed up their small dogs in ballerina outfits and slippers.
Meanwhile, Jin continued to sit quietly, processing the flood of information that accompanied the blonde’s social security number.
Arthur Kirkland, 27, English, unmarried, gross income of 10xx eco-units annually. Solitary owner of Eishoff’s booming shipping industry – anything and everything that came in and out of the bio-dome arrived using his boats. Jin’s blank eyes widened slightly – it seemed he’d been purchased by one of the city’s most important people. Mr. Kirkland surely had a certain image he had to maintain, and very important, influential people he needed to impress. The newly registered bot only hoped he was good enough to meet his owner’s standards, though wouldn’t blame the man at all if he wanted to return him later on.
Though, the way he was touching his shoulder was rather comforting...
“It’s okay daddy,” he insisted, unaware of the repeating glitch. “I’m used to it. It’s what I’m for, I think... Um,” a shy glance upwards, “but I can’t wait to see where you live. I bet it’s amazing.”

A scowl firmly set on Arthur's face at the salesman's words, until Jin got his attention. He smiled softly at the words, and rubbed his shoulder a bit more. "Well, I suppose we're ready. Come with me, lad." He removed his hand and lightly took Jin's. "Come along, I have a car out front for us."
With one last disdainful look at the salesman, Arthur snatched his receipt out of the man's hand. "Anything else?"

“Yes daddy.”
Jin flinched a bit and stared at the hand currently holding his, not sure what he was supposed to do with it. Did Arthur want a manicure? He didn’t look like the type to care about his nails... It would be rude to take his hand back though, so he simply squeezed back, hoping it was what his owner was expecting.
“Nope,” the man answered flippantly, waving them out. “Enjoy your bot sir~ Remember to visit us when you’re looking to purchase another! We also carry a variety of Bot Accessories in case you’re ever interested! Have a nice day! EAT YOUR FIBRE!”

"This way." Arthur gave Jin a soft smile and led him outside, slipping into the back of his vehicle after the driver opened it. He lightly patted the seat beside himself. "Come along, Jin. It's time to go home."
Arthur hadn't expected to get so excited over a robot; but was pleasantly surprised by the fact that he was. The bot was special, he felt. Though, perhaps that was his long-squashed paternal side, enjoying being called daddy.
Which wasn't as creepy as it sounded.

Jin took a quick look around the outside streets, eyes wide in amazement. He’d never seen or felt any of what he was currently experiencing, only knowing of their existence through his default program. Everything seemed so...real. Just as he was about to stoop down to closely examine a wad of greyish pink gum smushed onto the sidewalk, he heard his name being called. It made him feel all warm and fuzzy and needed, so he bid the poor piece of flavoured rubber farewell and entered the car, flopping comfortably next to the blond.
He scooted away nervously when he realised how compact the space seemed to be, not wanting to intrude on Arthur’s personal space. Jin was determined to be both useful and polite, and would take every precautionary measure necessary to fulfill that task.
“Um. Is there anything specific I need to know to best be of service, daddy?” Jin asked, voice calm, but processor working hard not to overheat. “Like, pet peeves? Allergies? Offensive fabrics?”
He had no idea why he said the last point, but one could never tell – for all Jin knew, his owner was disgusted by the idea of silk. It was made from the solidified saliva of disgusting looking caterpillars after all.

Arthur chuckled softly and reached over, patting Jin's shoulder. "Don't fret so much, lad. You'll have time to learn everything." He examined the bot fondly, already pleased with this purchase. "Once we get to the house, we'll get everything settled for you. Ah, I suppose a bedroom would be in order . . ." He glanced out the window, frowning slightly as he pondered his large home for the moment.
"Perhaps the green room." Arthur shook his head and glanced over at Jin. ". . . You should relax, lad. I'm relatively unpicky, so don't worry."

“A...bedroom?” Jin repeated, fidgeting in both nervousness and excitement.
He’d been afraid to even ask for a small cushion to sit on while he charged – getting a whole entire room to himself went way above his expectations. He hoped he wasn’t displacing anyone; though the information provided with Arthur’s social security number assured him the man was single and lived alone, there still may be someone living in the house. Perhaps a yet to be married significant other...
For some reason, this thought caused the blush to return to Jin’s cheeks. Before he could stop himself, Jin gave the blond a quick hug before letting out a little squeak and scooting back to his spot near the opposite window. The bot glanced up briefly to take in the names of the surrounding streets before looking away.
“S-Sorry, ” he stammered, keeping his head bowed. “I’ll try my best... ”
Jin sank a little bit into the plush leather, looking to Arthur to see if he was relaxing correctly.

Arthur paused at the hug and reached to lightly pat Jin's head, when he found that the bot had already moved across the seat away from him. He dropped his hand awkwardly, giving the bot a soft smile. "No need to apologize, lad." He commented, glancing out his own window.
"Ah, here we are." Arthur shifted in his seat when the car pulled to a stop, and moved to climb out. "The Kirkland Estate."
