Assigned Name: 100914 - "JIN"
Actual Name: Wang Jia-Long
Physical Age: 16
Country of Origin: Hong Kong, China
Creation Date: July 1
Model: F.A.C.U. - "Special"
Appearance: Standing at a humble 5’4, Jin has a slim frame with toned arms and strangely prominent hips, making him appear somewhat ambiguous in gender. He wears his dark brown hair in short, choppy layers which frame his pale face; heavy bangs (dutifully brushed to the left) almost completely cover his thick eyebrows, which have always seemed a bit out of place in relation to the rest of his face. His lips are usually pulled into a very slight frown, and it’s rare to ever see him smile. For whatever reason, he seems to speak with a light, but noticeable, English accent.
His sleepy eyes are, and always have been, a very vibrant gold. Though they once held a clever, mischievous glint, they are now completely devoid of any recognizable emotion. There are silver studs pierced near the end of his eyebrows; these are the only physical suggestions of the computer chips implanted at the back of his eyes, which help sharpen his damaged vision.
While he’s willing to wear whatever he’s asked to, he seems to be more comfortable in anything with long, oversized sleeves.
Jin’s serial number (100914) is printed along his hairline, near the curve of his left ear. The logo at his nape consists of a stylised orchid inside of a heart; underneath this is his name. He also has a black, nickel sized button at the base of his spine; pressing it releases the 15 foot long cord used to recharge his battery. His on/off switch is located on a rather intimate spot of his body; the right side of his inner thigh.

Personality: Jia had always been a quiet, somewhat lazy individual, though he had a penchant for causing chaos whenever he felt life was getting too monotonous for his liking. Sharp in both wit and tongue, he was never afraid to tell others when he felt should be said, whether they wanted to hear it or not. His scathing sense of humour and often insulting sarcasm made him someone you either admired or despised. Despite living in what was considered the slums, he always held himself with an unshakable pride that exceeded his perceived social standing; just because he was poor didn’t mean he needed to act like it. Any money he came across was saved for either an indulgent meal or another stuffed panda, of which Jia had quite the collection.
Of course, this all changed when he was sold to be converted after a two week hospital stay. Already weak and in constant pain, Jia’s former self was completely wiped during the conversion process, leaving him painfully obedient and submissive. As a standard F.A.C.U. unit, his only desire is to be useful, and though he still has lingering memories of the life he had before, he finds them irrelevant in comparison to his duty to serve. Jia, now Jin, strongly believes that his worth is directly related to how he’s perceived by others. Any compliment sent his way is met with skepticism, and ultimately, denial. He is willing to do anything to ensure his owner’s safety and happiness, even if it means putting himself in harm’s way.
The fact that Jin retained any memories at all was a cause for concern, as they cause him to have a rather nasty attitude problem from time to time (never to his owner though). Worse still, he shows strong evidence of being able to feel emotion; this was the main reason he was eventually deemed faulty.
Due to another accidental glitch, he refers to a certain blond Englishman as 'daddy'.
History: Jia-Long was born to a middle class family living in Hong Kong. Originally from mainland China, his parents were constantly moving from place to place in search of new businesses to invest in, trying to find at least one that would become a major financial success. Their quest for wealth led them to Eishoff, hoping that the growing community would be riddled with new business opportunities.
Though they had originally moved into the Northern Sector, the Wangs’ failed business dealings ended up draining the family’s bank account, leaving them unable to continue living the same lifestyle they had back in Asia. They were forced to move into the Eastern Sector a few days before Jia’s eighth birthday; while it wasn’t exactly the worst place to have ended up, his parents still found the whole experience humiliating. His father had also developed arthritis, and most of what little income there was needed to be spent on medication. The Wangs took out their frustration on their two sons, doling out painful punishments for any mark lower than a B. While Jia didn’t have a bad relationship with his parents prior to their fall from wealth, it wasn’t exactly anything to brag about. Needless to say, it only took a turn for the worse following their move.
After his older brother left for college, Jia, then fifteen, noticed that his parents began acting almost disturbingly nice to him. They would always serve him a cup of his favourite milk tea before and after every meal, encouraging him to drink it, even as a snack. While he appreciated the gesture, Jia thought it was a bit too late for them to try and earn his favour. He drank every drop, regardless, knowing that there couldn’t possibly be any downside to too much tea. As the months passed, Jia started having sudden headaches and stomach pains; whenever he complained about them to his parents, they were quick to brush off the concerns, blaming them on too much video games and junk food. His problems only worsened as time went on, and soon the stomach pains and headaches were accompanied by insomnia and breathing difficulties. It was the eve of Jia’s sixteenth birthday before his parents finally decided to bring him to the hospital; they had entered his bedroom to find him coughing up blood.
The Eastern Sector’s hospital, while busy, was poorly equipped and disorganized. After a thorough examination, the doctor informed the family that she had found deposits of pure gold in the whites of Jia’s eyes, a clear sign of heavy metal poisoning. Unfortunately, he was brought in too late; there was nothing anyone could do to treat it. Unbeknownst to Jia, his parents were the cause of his condition. After hearing rumours of other families selling their sick and dying to an organization called D.E.R.P., they began grinding up his father’s RA pills (which contained trace bits of gold) and slipped them into their son’s tea, slowly poisoning him over a period of three months. A representative of D.E.R.P. approached them during Jia’s hospital stay, offering them 36,000 eco-units for the boy. There was no hesitation; the Wangs signed him over without a second thought, eager for a chance to return to their former wealth.
Jia stayed in the hospital for two more weeks before his parents told him that he was going to be transferred to a more specialized hospital. Amazed that his penny-pinching parents had actually gone through the trouble to try and get him the treatment he needed, the dying boy was finally convinced that his parents really did care about him. He desperately clung to this lie all the way to the end, even as the anesthesia lulled him into his final rest as Jia-Long Wang.
The F.A.C.U. unit JIN was born after several hours of extensive surgery. He was renamed using the Chinese character for 'gold' as both a reference to his eye colour and the circumstances of his former self's passing. While the procedure seemed to go as planned, an error occured during the memory erasing process, leaving Jin with a very slight awareness of his former life. However, the mistake was caught too late; the newly created bot was sold to one Arthur Kirkland as soon as he became available for purchase.

This hospital didn’t seem any better than the one he’d left; it was just as cold and depressing as the last, save for a potted plant placed in the corner of every room. Maybe it was to prove something could survive in such a bleak environment?
...Too bad they were obviously plastic. And dusty.
Jia huffed, burying his face deeper into the scratchy pillow. He really needed to stop being so damn cynical. His parents had went through all the trouble to transfer him there, the least he could do was act appreciative. Somehow. In his dark, lifeless room.
A door handle clicked somewhere to his left; Jia opened his eyes, the gold deposits glinting faintly in the artificial light. He turned to face the two men that entered his room, unable to make out their faces in his delirious state. Not that it mattered anyway. His parents had told him this was one of the more reputable hospitals; there should be nothing to be afraid of. Slowly, he pulled himself into a sitting position, waiting for the others to give him the standard examination.
The young teen said nothing as his face was forced upwards, watching silently as one of the men looked him over, appraising him as if he were a cut of meat. Jia winced as a familiar pain stabbed into his stomach, the sudden movement causing the man to release him. He glanced up at them, wondering when, or if, they’d be able to help him. It would be a shame if his all parents’ hard work went to waste; the transfer must have been a heavy blow to their pocketbooks. But at least they were willing to chance it...that meant that they loved him, didn’t it? It had to...why else would they have done it?
Soon he’d be able to sleep in his own bed, surrounded by the plush pandas he’d missed every single day since he’d left. At this point he honestly didn’t care what the treatment was, as long as he’d finally be able to go home.
“So,” he said after the men had finished muttering to themselves, trying his best to gauge their expressions. “What d’you think? You'll be able to fix me, right?”
