( Post order: Ivan, Yong Soo, Allison )
Ivan hadn't thought about actually ever buying a bot. The idea just seemed strange to him, despite having invented the damn things. He'd owned a bot or two before, but generally something happened to them. The ones he'd owned were a couple of glitch-ridden prototypes anyway. Yong Soo was the first bot in his care to actually be fully functional, regardless of being a very special bot in the first place... retaining all of his memory and personality. He really didn't think he needed another one. Yong Soo was always there for him, helping him when he needed it and being the only family he had in-house.
Apparently though... Yong Soo still felt that Ivan was a lonely old man and needed... a pet. It was amusing to Ivan how Yong Soo, despite being a bot, saw bots as pets and experiment subjects. He never bothered to really question it though and merely accepted it as fact. That was one of the excuses he was given by his adopted son/bot, that he wanted to experiment on a bot that wasn't Jin, his colleague's beloved bot.
It was that... and something that rather touched on Ivan's mechanical heart... His son wanted someone to be there to take care of Ivan when the young bot was busy with work and unable to make sure his adopted father didn't slip into madness by himself. That was... very sweet... and probably what made the old veteran cave, giving into the wish to have a household bot.
Heartfelt words brought Ivan and his son to the door of a local bot distributor, where he held open the door for his younger companion to walk through. "I cannot belief you talket me into this," he said, face still stuck in that perpetual smile of his.

Yong Soo was practically bouncing as he went into the store. A brand new bot to have~ Someone to dress up and upgrade and fold his clothes for him so Ivan didn’t complain and fuss over wrinkles in his shirt. Honestly, if he was just lounging around the house, who cared if his shirt was wrinkled or his sweat pants had a random food stain of something red he think happened at dinner six nights ago? He hung up all his suits and costumes and dresses up. He took care of the clothes that mattered.
Yong Soo also wanted a new bot to test out his upgrades on. Jin had been great so far, but his owner was soooo picky. ‘No Yong Soo, you can’t remove his limbs to try new ones. No Yong Soo, you can’t give my boy breasts. No Yong Soo, you can’t alter his personality data to make him smile more. Yong Soo, don’t touch that!’ It was Mr Kirkland’s response to every question Yong Soo asked that challenged his stuffy British ideals.
Not to mention he was a little, tiny, incy bit tired of putting pandas on everything.
Besides, Ivan needed someone else in the house. The man constantly forgot to eat. Sometimes the Russian would miss getting the sleep he needed. Not to mention his father figure had seemed lonely these last few weeks. Ever since Yong Soo had recovered enough to start fiddling around with mechanics, Ivan had been left alone during the day. And while Yong Soo felt bad, there was little anyone could do once he had started a project to stop him.
“I can believe I talked you into this. It’s a good idea~ Come on. Let’s go look at the companion bots. Do you want a boy or a girl?” Taking his hand, Yong Soo all but dragged Ivan over to the displays.

The shop was rather small but served the rich, carrying all the newest bot models and latest modifications for bots. If a client could not find the type of bot they wanted, special orders could always be made. After all, client satisfaction was extremely important to this shop.
The only worker at the moment was a young man, the son of the shop's owner. He was set to inherit the place once his father retired, so he was well versed in all things bot. Except, of course, how they were made, but he was a man who really had no care for those types of things. All he cared about was matching the best bot to his clients, so they would always return to his shop for upgrades and modifications.
So, when a rather odd pair of people walked into his shop, he put on a smile and walked over to the two of them. "Welcome, sirs!" His smile widened when he heard that they were looking for companion bots. They were rather popular recently.
"If you would like a female bot, we got a new on in yesterday. She's made especially for companionship!" He directed the two men over to the newest bot model named Allie. "She's pretty cute, too, if you like blondes. But, if you don't want a female, we have some new male models as well."

Ivan stayed quiet at Yong Soo's enthusiasm, keeping the "pffft" sound locked away in his head. Sometimes, he really did spoil that bot, but he did love him like his own son (despite oftentimes running into situations of not knowing how to actually parent, but he tried anyway) and just wanted him to be happy. Apparently, that happiness requested that someone be there to take care of Ivan when Yong Soo could not. Granted, he did dislike being any sort of burden for his son.
Maybe getting another bot wouldn't be such a bad idea in that case. He mostly needed someone to remind him to sleep and eat on the days when he overworked and someone to talk to him. That made him feel... far older than he really was though. Just as he sighed somewhat, a young man came up to them. Before Ivan could even get past the first syllable of his typical greeting, they were almost dragged over to the female companion bots. Well, at least the service was quick... or business was just slow today.
Ivan really had no preference to male or female in whatever friend Yong Soo picked out for him to have. He just figured they were more likely to get certain personality traits with one type or the other. This one wasn't bad looking either, but appearances weren't really all that important you just needed someone to talk to. He crossed his arms, one hand under his chin.
"Ну, она красивая. Но мужчина или женщина, какая разница?" he said, avoiding having to actually talk directly to the salesman. Sometimes it was nice to just play the typical parent that refuses to learn English, despite the fact that he had the competency of a native in the language (accent aside). He felt more comfortable this way and figured he wouldn't have to actually talk as much. She was pleasing to the eyes though. "Какая женщина?" he added after another few moments of leaning forward to examine the bot presented to them.
"Ёшка, как по-твоему?" Ivan kept his voice low as he smiled his usual indifferent smile at the pretty, deactivated bot. He pondered for a moment what it might be like to have her in his home to talk to and pay attention to. Now he just had to wait to hear about her personality. Hopefully, she wasn't incredibly annoying...
(( Ну, она красивая. Но мужчина или женщина, какая разница? = Well, she's beautiful. But man or woman, what difference does it make?
Какая женщина? = What kind of person is she?
Ёшка, как по-твоему? = Yong Soo (in a Russified pet name), what's your opinion? ))

So Ivan was in one of those moods, was he? Whelp, he might have been feeling a bit shy today. But if Ivan was gonna play this game, Yong Soo could too. He let himself feel a brief moment of pity for the poor shop clerk before charging in ala Leroy Jenkins style, or whatever it was called.
“Oh Papa, she is pretty, isn’t she? I think she looks a little bit like Mama did before.... IT happened. I guess it doesn’t really matter if it’s a boy bot or a girl bot, but our lives have been missing a feminine touch since Mama left us. I mean our house if pretty much a sausage fest as is.” A girl bot would be fun to try upgrades and mods on. He had his own body and Jin’s for more male geared upgrades.
“Papa wants to know what kinda personality she has.” Yong Soo leaned forward to examine her body. She was a newer model, probably hadn’t been on the shelves long at all. As long as she had a sunny disposition and could take care of Ivan, he was sold.

The poor shop clerk, as much as he loved money, loved sad stories as well. No wonder the older man seemed so withdrawn and quiet! Maybe the poor man couldn’t even speak English well, so he was relying on his child to help him. Oh, this was definitely a tragedy and if this new female bot reminded the young man of his mother, well, who was he to keep the two of them apart?
When asked about the bot’s personality, the shopkeeper smiled. “She’s very cheerful and optimistic. The reports from her system tests before being sent here showed that she was always smiling and wanting to help others. So, if you need help around the house, she will be more than happy to help you. She will also befriend you, since she is a bot made for companionship, after all.” The man smiled and looked at the younger man, hoping that he would translate for his poor father.

Ivan struggled to keep a straight face as Yong Soo gave the clerk a sob story about a fictional mother who'd passed away. His smile turned into a straight line as he tried to force a bluff of expression. It was laughable almost. He'd never been married, never even had prospects despite his family's affluence. Sure, there had been instances of ... youth... on various military bases and in a few of the towns, mostly when booze was involved but never was there anything that had been even remotely longer lasting than a single night.
He understood the clerk perfectly fine but didn't look at him, waiting a few moments as he examined the bot more closely. Specifically a companion bot? Weren't those the ones he'd designed for romance and friendship and most commonly purchased those old perverts who were tired of hiring disease ridden hookers and pricey call-girls? Well, Ivan certainly wasn't after that in a bot, but... Yong Soo seemed to like her, if the way she was being likened to this fictional mother was any hint. Honestly, it was probably more accurate to say Yong Soo was aiming to get his father a pet-wife, at least if Ivan's ability to guess was functioning on all cylinders today. No, Ivan wasn't exactly too keen on the idea, but... he'd agreed that he would purchase a new bot for the household. At least she was pretty, and supposedly very cheerful. That would suffice, he supposed.
"По-моему, она хорошая... симпатичная..." he mumbled, putting his hand to his chin as though considering the possibility of actually purchasing this bot. Well, he did want to get out of here as quickly as possible with a satisfied son and she seemed decent enough. This... Allie... would do well enough. "Да, она..." Ivan gave Yong Soo a nod with a slight smile, essentially giving him the green light to go ahead. This Allie would be the newest member of Ivan's ad hoc family.
(( По-моему, она хорошая... симпатичная.. = In my opinion, she's good... likable...
Да, она... = Yes, her... )) [/blockquote]

Yong Soo has parroted the man’s words back to Ivan in Russia. It was perfect. A bot that was specifically made for companionship. Someone happy and smiling was exactly what Ivan needed in his life. The Russian needed someone to mother him, but also to listen to him. The man didn’t just get preoccupied in his work, but also in his thoughts. A shoulder to cry on, so to speak, would do him wonders of good.
“She seems like a good choice Papa.” Yong Soo smiled at the Russian. “Should we have her delivered or activate her and take her home with us?” If worse came to worse, he could always rewrite her programming a bit or if any problems were drastic, return the bot.

The salesman smiled at the two of them and went to get the box that the bot had been delivered to him in. If the father and son wanted this bot, well, he would do everything he could to make them happy. “She is a very good bot. I think both of you will be very happy to have her in your lives.”
Bringing out of the box, he walked back over to the two men and the bot. “If you like, you may activate her here. However, if you want to take her home first, I can pack her in her box. Don’t worry, it makes transport easy because here is a lot of padding in the box to minimize damage during travel."

Ivan nodded, muttering something in Russian about activating her here. It would be easier to have her walk back with them so she could start to learn the area and get to know her new family members. Granted, he would be her master, but she would be the newest member of his household and therefore, his family. She would be taken care of, despite her purpose of existence being to take care of him when Yong Soo could not. He felt kind of like a burden sometimes, but ... she would useful he supposed, someone to be there when he woke from his daylight nightmares. Perhaps even her presence would help keep the damn things at bay.
Muttering quietly to himself still, he smiled and pulled his wallet out to retrieve the card he used for most of his transactions. Passing the card to the salesman, who vanished for a moment to finish the purchase after Ivan made it clear through repetition of the name for "Russian" in the language that he also wanted that language add-on so she could understand him. In a few minutes, the salesman returned, handing Ivan both his card and the data chip that contained the language information so that he could install it on her.
The older man passed the chip to Yong Soo before he walked over to the newly purchased member of their family. He looked her over for a moment before finding the switch on the back of her neck. Pressing it, he leaned back away, waiting for the boot-up process that he knew all too well. Feeling around the back of her head, Ivan opened the access panel and watched the screen. Before too terribly long, it asked for his identification number, which he promptly entered before closing the panel. She belonged to them now... officially.
Ivan walked back around to the front to face her. Any second now, she would "wake up" so to speak... Any second... He smiled, curious to know just what she was going to be like. Hopefully Yong Soo wouldn't make jokes about Allison being his father's girlfriend or wife. That would just be awkward and weird.

Yong Soo grinned as Ivan went about turning Allie on. He snorted a bit internally with that. He was stuck in his early twenties for the rest of his undetermined life span, and was using that as an excuse to never give up potty humor. Once Ivan and Allie started to get along a bit better, he was totally gonna call them Mama and Papa when they messed with sales associates.
He flipped the Russian language chip over in his hand. He and Ivan could run primary scans and other needed upgrades once they got the blond bot home. They would have to take her shopping for clothes and other such supplies, Yong Soo suddenly realized. Vaguely he wondered if taking enjoyment of the image of making Ivan take her underwear shopping hilarious made him cruel.
But, she was opening her eyes now. Yong Soo watched intently, waiting for her to fully wake up.

The salesman took the Russian’s card and swiped it after the language chip to the price. Soon enough, he handed the language chip to the man before standing back to watch the tall man activate his new bot. It always interested him to see the new owners turning on their bots in the store. The reactions were all quite wonderful to watch, especially the happy ones. Hopefully, this man and his son would be happy with a bot that resembled the man’s deceased wife.
Slowly, the bot twitched as her processor started up and turned on her basic functions first. Finally, her “mind” was turned on and her eyes opened. Bright blue eyes blinked a few times at the sight of strange, soft violet eyes in front of her before she smiled. But, with the man’s identification number having been programmed into her already, she knew exactly who this was.
“My name is Allie,” she said with a bright smile, “It is very nice to meet you, Ivan Braginsky.”

Ivan had no such delusions about replacing a fictional dead wife. Honestly, he was a bit surprised the salesman bought such a silly thing. Ivan looked nothing like Yong Soo and neither did their new bot. The genetics would make no sense unless he and his fictional spouse adopted... Actually, that wasn't too terribly uncommon these days so it was possible, maybe. Still though, it was amusing.
Without surprise, Ivan smiled when Allison introduced herself and addressed him. So it begins, he thought. Unfortunately, he hadn't put in the Russian language chip yet and... he didn't want to blow his cover in front of the salesman. He'd faked his way through not speaking English up until this point, but... his new bot wouldn't understand him if he addressed her in Russian to keep with the pretense. Hm. Standing there quietly, he tried to think of how best to communicate his greeting.
Ah. That was it.
Ivan nodded his pleased acknowledgment.

The Korean was happy to when Allie activated. She had a pretty smile. Her personality seemed to be nice and sunny too. It looked like she could be just what Ivan needed. If there were any personality glitches, those would be easy enough to fix between him and Ivan.
Yong Soo stepped forward as Ivan mutely grinned at their new bot. He was gonna play the Russian mute to the end it seemed. “Hello Allie. My name is Yong Soo. I’m Ivan’s son.” He patted Allie’s shoulder. “I’m afraid he doesn’t really speak English. Once we get home, we’ll download the Russian language disk and you’ll be able to understand him just fine.”

Allie smiled at her new owner, though she did wonder why he didn’t speak to her. Was he unable to speak? If that was the case, maybe he knew sign language… She could download a program so she would be able to communicate with him, then! After all, she wanted to get along with her owner, even though they had just met. There was just something about the man that interested her and she wondered if that was just due to her programming wanting to learn more about her owner.
When another person approached her, Allie glanced over at him, noting that he was a young Asian male. He introduced himself as Yong Soo, saying that he was Ivan’s son, which was strange, because he was clearly a bot. Did Ivan buy bots to be like children to him? She supposed that she would find out eventually. Yong Soo told her that Ivan barely spoke English, which explained why he hadn’t said anything to her.
“I can’t wait to get the language download, then, so I can talk with my new owner!”
