Assigned Name: 0110865 -- "Lutz"
Actual Name: Ludwig Beilschmidt
Physical Age: 20
Country of Origin: Germany
Creation Date: October 3
Model: F.A.C.U. Enviro [Special]
Appearance:
Lutz is tall, around 5'11", and well-built: he is muscular, but not stocky, and although he has wide shoulders and a broad chest, his build leans towards athletic, while his physical strength is apparent visibly. Surprisingly, few modifications were made to his body for this: while a little definition was added to his arms, legs, and chest, he had always been muscular. Blushes and bruises show up easily on his very fair skin, and he sunburns easily on clear days.
His hair is a light shade of golden-blonde, cut short in bangs over his forehead; however, he seems to like keeping it combed back away from his face over the top of his head. This second style gives him a more severe and serious appearance than the first, especially combined with the angles in his face and his strong jawline. His intense sky-blue eyes are the only part of his appearance that would not qualify as 'pale', although more often than not, they are slightly narrowed, adding to his stern look.
Lutz's serial number is hidden at the base of his hairline on the back of his neck, while his logo marking (an iron cross shape) is on the left side of his lower abdomen, just next to his hip bone. His on/off switch is hidden by a small flesh-colored plate and located in his lower back. Both his logo and switch are fairly unobtrusive and easily hidden by clothes. And in regards to clothes, Lutz isn't too particular as long as the clothes are clean, although he will express some shyness about wearing anything ridiculously revealing or gaudy.
Strengths
✚ Strong: Lutz's most obvious feature his his physical strength: he wouldn't fall into the "superhuman" category, but he functions on the level of a professional athlete at the peak of his career, and can lift objects and run distances that would try many a human's abilities. He's great at physical chores or work, and can play a mean game of soccer.
✚ Protective: While the main focus of Lutz's design was companionship like the rest of the other bots, a modification in the plans called for using his natural strength to give him a bodyguard capacity as well. As such, Lutz will easily shield anyone or anything he thinks needs protecting from harm, be it an owner from a would-be mugger or a kitten from the rain.
✚ Intelligent: His aptitude for reading books was left intact, as was the vast amount of information he'd gleaned from said books. Lutz is a quick learner and a logical thinker, and can recall facts easily.
✚ Hardworking: If there's a task to be done, Lutz will step up and do it. He doesn't seem bothered by how consistently busy he keeps himself, and will always finish what he starts. Lutz is the kind of bot that never puts less than one-hundred-percent effort into something.
✚ Loyal: Lutz's trust can be hard to earn, but once he trusts someone, he'll never turn his back on them. He's surprisingly dedicated to people he considers trustworthy and is happy to help them, unless specifically ordered not to - and even this he might attempt to debate.
✚ Patient: While his personality can be a little off-putting, there's no denying that Lutz is patient. Even when he gets frustrated with people, he's happy to give them plenty of chances to redeem themselves, and he'll usually help them along.
✚ Kind: Lutz may not be the friendliest looking bot, but appearances can be deceiving. He can be quite supportive and caring, especially if he believes someone truly needs a shoulder to learn on at that moment. It does take time, however, to draw kindness out of him more regularly.
✚ Chores: Some of Lutz's practical skills include cooking (his specialties are cakes), cleaning, organizing things, making repairs, and time management.
Weaknesses
✖ Serious: One aspect of Lutz's personality that the F.A.C.U. techs were unable to alter is his serious nature. He is rational and realistic, and doesn't laugh or smile easily at anything. This makes him able to focus easily, but not so fun to be around at times.
✖ Naive: While he's quite sharp when it comes to fact, Lutz is a little less prepared in regards to people. He doesn't quite know how to handle himself best in social situations, although he's curious enough to ask questions of other when he needs to.
✖ Distant: Programmed to be emotionally supportive of others doesn't equal emotional, and Lutz is perfect proof of this. He's fairly stoic, and doesn't express emotions well. For those who don't like overly emotional or clingy bots, he's perfect, but for someone wanting immediate warm companionship, he's woefully inadequate.
✖ Anxious: Lutz is a worrier. He's constantly concerned about things that could go wrong on any given day, and has a hard time relaxing as a result. He's usually never worried about himself - only about others.
✖ Thunderstorms: Conversion brought this childhood fear back to his personality. While Lutz isn't a coward, storms unnerve him, and he prefers not to be alone during one.
✖ Loneliness: Lutz is occasionally fond of solitude, but he dislikes feeling abandoned or truly alone. Too much isolation and he falls into a kind of depression, during which he can be less than cooperative. As a bot, his purpose is companionship, after all, and when this purpose is taken away, he becomes lost.
✖ Helplessness: The one thing Lutz truly can't stand is feeling like he has no control over a situation. It frustrates him horribly that he wouldn't be able to help, especially when his help is needed, and he can't focus on anything else in the meantime.

Personality: First impressions would peg Ludwig as serious, hard-working, and rational, and these would be entirely correct. Never one to smile easily, especially around people he didn't know well, Ludwig seldom takes anything lightly, always dedicates his entire focus to the task at hand. Even seemingly petty chores like cleaning received a thorough treatment; undeniably, he's a bit of a perfectionist and somewhat obsessive about everything being correct, but Ludwig's also a firm believer in doing something with all your effort if you're going to do it at all.
Ludwig is also unfailingly realistic, and thinks with his head, rather than his emotions. While he can be pessimistic at times, outlining all the ways disasters could happen, there's no denying that such a way of thinking keeps him prepared when something bad occurs. He's not a believer in luck and, when faced with risks, tends to err on the side of caution. This isn't to say he's not brave: Ludwig would easily take a bullet for a friend, and doesn't back down from seemingly daunting challenges. But he's not an idiot, and won't take needless chances.
Speaking of intelligence, Ludwig is certainly smart. Since he was young, he's had a fondness for books, and is very well-learned on a variety of subjects. He's naturally curious, and boasts a decent imagination, which has made him somewhat clever. But this knowledge doesn't extend to subjects hazier than the concrete. His frank and stern manner hasn't endeared him to many people, and he's less than adept at reading emotions and getting along as a result: Ludwig tends to want to take charge of a situation, and dislikes small talk, silliness, or other wastes of time, even if such things might earn him a friend. His habit of turning to instruction manuals to learn things might work for things like baking a casserole or fixing an engine, but it hasn't helped him socially.
And this is a bit of shame, because despite being serious, strict, and a little intimidating at times, Ludwig isn't a mean person. He's certainly more closed-up emotionally than most, but he's a kind person, and deeply loyal to those people he knows best. Around friends, he can more easily relax and open up a little. Ludwig is also surprisingly patient, and while he can get easily irritated of frustrated, he doesn't give up on challenges and is generous with letting others have plenty of second chances. While he can be quite cruel when he loses his temper, this doesn't happen easily, and he's often apologetic after the fact.
Of course, when Ludwig was made into a bot, the technicians adjusted quite a few aspects of his personality to try and make it more agreeable. He's noticeably more cooperative and obedient, but his stern mannerisms remained, even after a few attempts at reprogramming.
History: Ludwig was born in the winter in Berlin, Germany, the second son of a happily married middle-class couple. Unfortunately, he would be their last: complications with his birth ended up taking the life of his mother. Distraught, Ludwig's father, an engineer by trade, threw himself wholly into his work, and afraid of losing another loved one, forbade his children to leave the house unsupervised. As a result, the young Ludwig spent much of his childhood alone reading books or in the company of his older brother, playing various games and exploring the tiny backyard attached to their tiny house.
The threats his father levied against him should he ever break the rules scared Ludwig into toeing the line; he was never a problem child and, having always been a little quiet and serious, grew even more so in order to prove himself. When he entered school, he worked exceptionally hard, trying to earn respect from his family. But he was caught between two extremes: his brother loved him unconditionally, yet his father seemed to have almost separated himself from the rest of his family. In any case, despite the futility of his attempts to be noticed, Ludwig continued to persevere.
When he was ten, his father made a surprising announcement: he had been promoted, but his new job required a transfer to Eishoff. Ludwig was sad to leave Berlin behind, but took to his new home quickly: the city offered everything Berlin had offered, and more. Despite the change in location, however, Ludwig's life remained the same. His father buried himself in work, and Ludwig threw himself wholeheartedly into school, excelling in academics and athletics. It came as little surprise to his classmates when he was accepted into a top scientific university. Having developed a liking for sciences, Ludwig took a few part-time jobs in order to pay for tuition.
Of course Ludwig continued to be a fantastic student, but university also offered him the opportunity to expand his social circle and interests more. Even with the jobs he worked, Ludwig managed to spare his free time to spend with friends; his looks and physique attracted the interest of more than a few students. Unfortunately, he also garnered exactly the wrong kind of attention. Late one night as he was walking home from his bar-tending job, a group of men ambushed Ludwig, knocking him out cold with a blow to the head and hastily loading him into a waiting car. Keeping him unconscious through the use of drugs, the men brought Ludwig to D.E.R.P. and sold him for a high price. Ludwig would never regain consciousness as himself again.
Months later after a variety of modifications, he awoke as Lutz. The D.E.R.P. technicians expected him to command the usual high price, but testing quickly revealed that somehow, muscle memory or otherwise, Lutz was a good deal more stern and solemn than he was expected to be. After extensive tries to fix this, the technicians gave up and put him on the market anyways, albeit at a slightly lower price.
RP Sample:
The examining table felt cold against his skin, and Lutz didn't like it. Not helping the problem, of course, was the fact that he wore only a pair of thin white trousers that looked like they belonged at a hospital. He didn't think he was in a hospital, at least, although he couldn't be sure. But the two men standing in front of him, whispering to each other behind their clipboards, certainly weren't being professional. The frown on his face deepened.
That seemed to provoke the two men, and they straightened up, looking at him properly. Lutz watched them unflinchingly, wondering if he should interrupt. Instead, one of the men spoke to him.
"Tell me your name."
"Lutz," he replied calmly, gaze still fixed. The man made a note on his clipboard, then said, "Tell me your owner's name."
Lutz tried to think, but couldn't remember anything besides this room. "I don't think I have one," he answered honestly.
"Good, that's correct," the man answered, making some more notes, and Lutz felt his shoulders sink in relief that he had done something properly. "Actually, it seems like we'll be able to find an owner for you soon," the man continued. "Does that make you happy?"
Lutz considered this silently for a moment. "Yes," he finally replied. He would be able to help someone out that way, and he'd get to leave this room. The man, however, frowned at this answer, and once again began whispering to his colleague. Lutz felt the urge to scowl creeping back onto his face, but he also felt unhappy: had he given the wrong answer?
"The thing is, you don't look very happy," one of the men blurted out at long last. Oh, Lutz mused, was that it? "So? It doesn't mean I'm not happy," he replied calmly, folding his arms across his bare chest. "But, it seems like you aren't," the man protested, practically wringing his clipboard. Lutz shrugged, "You aren't my owner. I don't have to perform for you."
"It's not about performing!" the man muttered, before turning to his colleague with an accusing look. "You said this was going to work-"
"I said it might work, and it kind of did-"
"This isn't the reaction we're looking for, in case you-"
"He made his point clear, perhaps-"
Lutz tuned the both of them out, looking searchingly at the door behind them instead.
