Name: Matthew Williams
Age: 24
Nationality: Canadian
Birthday: 02 July
Occupation: Two part-time jobs (Waiter and a job at the library.) He also runs the underground refuge 'Blue Moon'.
Upper, Middle, or Lower Class?: Middle-Lower Class
Attitude Towards Bots?: Confused. More fascinated by them, but yet worried after one particular incident. He is not willing to pass judgement until he learns more.
Appearance: With his medium length and somewhat curly dirty-blond hair, Matthew is a tiny bit feminine in his features. There is a constant curl of hair that just will not stay down however many attempts he makes at the feat (and believe that he has tried.) The Canadian sports violet and warm eyes, though said eyes are not the most reliable in the world. He is near-sighted and can often be seen wearing under-frame glasses.
Matthew is also not short by any stretch of the imagination. Standing at a reasonable 5'9", he doesn't have to worry about reaching that top shelf housing the cookie jar anymore. Body build on the other-hand, leaves a little to be desired. Not scrawny, nor muscular; Matthew sits in that limbo of an average body with no real striking physical features under those clothes.

[x] Kindness: Only matched by his sheer stubborness, the blond is a very kind individual. Matthew wishes nothing more than to see others happy and healthy. If there is a situation in which he is able to extend a helping hand, he'll be quick to offers assistance.
[x] Obvservant/Over Observant: Considered a weakness and a strength, the Canadian is observant of others. He has a slight habit of picking up changes in attitude of those he knows and can sometimes become a bit privy. While it is done with the best intentions, it can occassionally spell trouble for the Canadian.
[x] Laying Low: Willingly or unwillingly, Matthew does not usually stand out in a crowd.
Weaknesses
[x] Over-Apologetic: Considered a bit of a strange habit, Matthew is always apologizing for things. Mostly, it is for the littlest things in life that people should never have to apologize for. It could be because a friend is sad about a past even, about breathing air, or even about apologizing too much.
[x] No Self-Confidence: Absoutely none. Matthew is unable to see himself in a decent light, constantly believing that he is a hinderance to those around him.

[x] Lying: It goes without saying that Matthew is most likely the worst liar. Constantly darting his eyes away and getting nervous after having lied to someone. It is extremely easy to pick up on one his lies.
[x] Stuttering: While it may be considered more of a flauw than a weakness, it does hinder his speech at times. Usually, his stuttering is reservered for those moments when Matthew is uncomfortable with a situation (nervous, flustered, upset, etc.) Nervousness, however, runs often for the Canadian. His stuttering is less regular around those he is comfortable around.
[x] Speaking Up: Matthew is naturally soft-spoken; his voice never reaching higher than how he normally talks unless he blatantly yells at someone.
[x] Stubbornness: Matthew's stubborn streak is a bit different from most. He is stubborn in his decisions, but more so in the way that he wants to help those around him. If you're hungry but say you don't want anything? Doesn't matter. Matthew will be up and on it despite protests.
:advanced:
Personality: Timid, soft-spoken, and sensitive; Matthew is a gentle soul.
Having a tendency to shy away from those things which make life a living hell-hole; he avoids conflict whenever possible (even at the expense of his own pride.) Despite this, Matthew never seems to have lady luck on his side. Usually in the wrong place at the wrong time; at the recieving end of trouble. Even if said trouble was never his fault to begin with.
Given the chance, Matthew would take a bullet for a complete stranger. His kindness towards others, friends or no, only matched by his sheer stubbornness. And while he loves helping those in need, he is usually over-looked for never leaving much of an impression on people. Some would even go so far to say that he was 'invisible' at times. This never deters Matthew's spirits though, and 'putting another before oneself' is a philosphy he holds very dear.
Considered either one of his most endearing or faulty traits, Matthew does not know the meaning of 'taking it easy'. He is constantly looking for things to do and wanting to help his friends or the refugees as much as possible. The Canadian is rather adamant about those in his care doing work he can do himself. He'd much rather they be comfortable and sit around while he took care of things.
Matt's stubborn streak often comes at the expense of his own health, however. Even if he is completely exhausted, he will take the extra time to make sure everyone is comfortable, fed, and in good health before even thinking of tending to himself. It's a cause of his sleep-deprivation and often times, his lack of eating. Matthew could be ill and bed-ridden and would still make attempts to do work. He has a way of swiftly changing the subject and worm his way out of resting.
While he may stutter quite a bit, he does know how to use words to his advantage! If pushed too far, this normally timid Canadian will step up to the plate. Though, not with physical prowess. Matthew is better at picking on everything he can about someone and berating them to the point where there is no room for argument. Naturally for him, he feels pretty lousy afterwards. Sputtering out apologies left and right.
Matthew may not be much of a fighter, but he can be fairly aggressive in a competitive enviornment. Getting easily excited and into games, you see a completely different personality. It can throws people off-guard considering his usual demeanor.
History:
Growing up in the Middle class offered little in terms of a bad quality life-style. Matthew had most of his needs met well into his late-teens and his two parents were a loving couple. Once he hit the age of eighteen, though, Matthew departed from his family and attended university.
Naturally, circumstances change. While Matthew had wanted to study, his family took a financial hit and were unable to support themselves in their current fiscal situation. By the time the Canadian had turned ninteen, he was already working two part-time jobs to support his family.
As the years went on and his family regained that stability it so desperately needed, Matthew was left in a somewhat awkward situation. Already twenty-two years of age, he found it hard to bring himself to go back to school; instead opting to continue to work his jobs and save to live a comfortable life-style in the future.
Fate seemed to have something different in store for Matthew, though.
On his way home from his restaraunt job, the man encountered a sobbing child in an alley way. Scratches, bruises and dirt littering his arms and face. As the Canadian drew closer to ask if the kid was okay, kidnappers (who called themselves 'traders') made their presence known. Attempting to whisk the child away for an unknown reason.
Picking up the child, Matthew ran as fast as he could away from them. And even though the traders remained in hot persuit for a good number of minutes, the two managed to lose the enemies. And once the blond found his way back to the house and could have a talk with his new companion, things starting getting odd.
Along with his name, Johan, Matthew was told many a bizzare story. About how he was sold by his family to become a 'Bot'. That he was on his way to be transferred and found a brief moment to slip and escape. Of course, Matthew wrote this off as a child's imagination gone wild. If Johan was just lost, he should have said so. Tending to Johan's wounds.
Little did he know that it was more than a fantasy. In fact, the very next day, Johan went missing and was never heard from again. Disturbed, but unable to find the lad, Matthew gave up in his search after about a week. Hoping secretly that the boy made it back to his family in one piece.
Fast forward a year later. Having saved up a generally healthy amount of money, Matthew created the underground refuge 'Blue Moon'. Drawing inspiration from the horrors he witnessed (and more kids that he had helped after Johan.) He decided that this was most likely his calling. The entrance he hid under his desk, a small button underneath the only way to access the underground passage way that leads to the core area of the refuge.
Upon one of his daily excursions to retrieve supplies, Matthew happened upon a wealthy man and a boy walking about the city. The Canadian nearly dropped his bags at the site. There was no mistaking it. Despite some minor alterations, that was definitely the boy he had rescued but a year ago. Almost on instinct, Matthew ran towards the boy and expressed his relief and how concerned he had been.
The owner, a rich business man, quickly grew irrate. Accusing the man of harrassing his Bot.
Matthew's eyes went wide. Surely, this was a mistake? Then again...the boy didn't respond to his name and seemed to not recognize Matthew either. Not that Matthew was very memorable, but yet...
As he watched the two walk away, Matthew started to wonder...was what Johan, that boy he rescued, the one who he thought had an over-active imagination; Was there some truth to what he said? He had to find out.

Canada had been a bit reluctant at first. Too reluctant, in all actuality. However, his curiousity and the possibility of finding a way out for the others motivated him to say 'yes' to Germany's proposal. Why this building instilled such a pang of fear into the Canadian, he wasn't sure.
Not a coward by any stretch of the imagination, but simply troubled and most of all, wary. Everything about this building screamed 'Danger' to Canada. And yet, it felt oddly familiar. Thus his reluctance to leave the safe confides of the Sanctuary.
Here he was, though. Kumajiro had taken residence on the floor next to him as the bear watched his friend carefully. Visibly more attentful than he had ever been for whatever reason. Canada payed it no mind, however as he stared one of the bookshelves.
The violet eyed man was searching for something, anything, that could lead them to some sort of clue about the building they were currently occupying. His eyes followed the spines of each book, none being of what he was searching for. Surely there were plans to the building, a contract from those who built it, or maybe just any indicator of human life having had a hand in the construction of this manor in some way.
Sadly, book after book seemed to deliver disappointment. There was plenty of literature, atlases, encyclopedias, and so on. Simply nothing on the building itself, however. And so, the Canadian let out a small, frustrated sigh. It wasn't as if the mansion had appeared out of thin air. Someone had to have put it here.
If only he could leave the mansion to visit the local library or city hall for documentation. Naturally, that sort of undermined the current excursion that Germany and Canada were undertaking.
Hearing the familiar voice, the Canadian turned around from the bookcase and shook his head disappointedly. "I-it's strange. You would think there would be something relating to the building in here." he sighed yet again and reached down to pick up his furry compainion.
Kumajiro let lose a small grunt as the arms circled around him, but made no other protests to the handling. Releshing in the attention given to him. "H-how about you?"
