Name: Timo Väinämöinen
Age: 20
Nationality: Finnish
Birthday: December 6th
Occupation: Ice breaker
Upper, Middle, or Lower Class?: Lower class
Attitude Towards Bots?: He’s a little scared/freaked out by them, but generally he treats them as he does everyone else: kindly
Appearance: Timo is a bit of a short young man and growing up was always a little plump. As an adult that fat is long gone, but he still has round features, and he still has a layer of fat over his hips, which is far too feminine in his opinion. He has a cheerful face, which is dominated by his big, bright eyes. If you ask him he’ll say his eyes are blue, and in the right light they do look a rich blue, but look closely and you’ll see that they are in fact purple. His hair is a light blonde, and he usually lets it grow down to his shoulders before getting it cut back to his ears. Timo never really got into the habit of following fashion, and has teased for been dressing like an old man, but he’s fond of dress trousers, button up shirts and knit jumpers. He also has a white beret, a hand down from his grandfather, and a silver cross, a gift from a friend, that he’s rarely seen without.

[x] Cute things they make him think of being a child, and besides, they’re adorable and that can never be a bad thing!
[x] Suanas Timo would use one every day if he could. He can endure incredibly high temperatures.
[x] Salmiakki it’s a rare day when he leaves his flat without a packet in his pocket. He doesn’t understand how anyone could dislike the stuff, and is always offering it to his workmates with a smile.
[x] Myths and legends Timo is intrigued by all kinds of history, but has a particular interest in special occasions and the history behind them, and for myths and legends.
[x] Cute things seriously, he likes them a lot.
Dislikes
[x] Arguments Especially between friends. Timo usually tries to play diplomat if his friends are fighting.
[x] Bullies people who delight in torturing the weak disgust him, and he’s been subject to that more than a few times.
[x] Mirrors he hates seeing his reflection, and goes out of his way to avoid mirrors.
[x] Being alone when he’s alone he tends to think too much, and he goes out of his way to stay with other people as often as possible.
[x] Silence Long pauses in conversations make him uneasy, and he’ll often chatter over them rather than letting them drag out.
Strengths
[x] His loyalty Timo is the most loyal friend anyone could wish for. Once he’s claimed you as his friend, he will do anything to protect you, no matter what the cost to himself.
[x] His aim As many a school bully found to his disadvantage, Timo has a near perfect aim. It’s not been too useful out of school sports, but should he throw you anything you’ll find it in exactly the right position to catch, and heaven forbid he ever gets his hands on a gun in a fight.
Weaknesses
[x] His naivety Timo believes in the best in everyone, and it takes a lot to make him think anything aside from that. Of course, that means it’s rather easy to take advantage of him, and it’s happened before.
[x] His chattiness When it comes to chatter, Timo doesn’t know when enough's enough. While he’s good at keeping secrets, gossip is another thing, and he will often say whatever’s on the top of his head and then regret it later. Fortunately, as he’s generally a decent man he’s never said anything too offensive, but he lives in fear that he will one day.
:advanced:
Personality: Timo is a sweet guy, usually described as ‘cute’ by those he meets, and always there to help you when you’re in trouble. He believes in the best in everyone and will attempt to befriend everyone. He treats everyone with the same love and respect, no matter who or what they are, with no change for gender, sexuality, race, or religion. He will talk to anyone and does his best to make everyone feel happy. One of the few ways you can get Timo to truly dislike you is to be disloyal to your friends. Timo would honestly do anything for his friends, and will often spend a lot of money on them, or on gifts for them. However, should anyone hurt his friends and they’ll meet a hidden side to him, because he is incredibly protective of those he loves and will not stand to have them hurt. He’s also a hard worker, and if hard work could solve all problems then Timo would have none. Once he starts a project, Timo will work and work until he is satisfied with it.
Unfortunately, in private, he also suffers from low self esteem. It’s something that he prefers to keep hidden from others, but Timo has a low opinion of his body and his abilities. While he’s constantly boosting other people’s ego, he can rarely find anything he likes about himself, and when left to himself he can get pretty down about it. He’s also naïve, and because Timo believes in the good of all man, and because he trusts that people will tell the truth, there have been a few occasions when his willingness to friend anyone has got him into trouble. And yet he fails to learn his lesson, and continues to believe in the best of everyone.
History: People have said that Timo has suffered a lot of hardship in his life, but when asked the man will usually just laugh and say that he was fortunate enough to have a family who loved and supported him. This is true, and his family was very close knit when he was a child. He grew up in a small village in Finland, where his father was a fisherman, his mother was a waitress, and his grandfather lived with them. Timo was perhaps closest to him of all his family, but he looks a lot like his mother. While the family was never well off, his mother taught him to make do and get by, something that he still does his best to live by.
However, when he was ten, his mother and grandfather were killed in a car crash, something that he doesn’t like to talk about. Unable to stay where they had been so happy, Timo’s father took the chance to move to Eishoff when it was offered to him. Although he quickly settled into his new school, Timo found himself bullied as a new boy, mainly because of his strange coloured eyes and his chubbiness, another thing that he’ll rarely speak about. The job that his father had taken ended sooner than he’d expected, leaving him forced to take a shipping job when Timo was 16. With his father away for most of the year, Timo found himself alone, living in a tiny room in hostel in the Underground.
To survive, he was forced to leave school and find a job. Luckily for him, a kindly ice breaker took him on as an apprentice, and since Timo was hard working and could deal with the extreme cold he did surprisingly well. These days he often works both days and nights, hoping to be there when his father’s ship comes in again. While his job leaves him tired at times it’s not enough to dull his ever lasting energy and enthusiasm, encouraged by the fact that he’s keeping the harbour safe for shippers like his father.
RP Sample: Timo covered his mouth with his hand as he yawned deeply, eyes closing for a moment. The paintbrush in his other hand dipped and for a second the tin soldier that he was working on was threatened with a red spot on his face, before he realised and quickly lifted his hand again. The day was dragging. It was partly because he was tired, he knew. He was still S50 short of having the rent, which was due next week, and he’d been taking every shift he was offered, snatching a few hours of sleep here and there. It was also (and mostly) because in 30 - 29! – minutes Berwald would be meeting him outside to take him back to his house. His tiredness did little to diminish his excitement and happiness: both were even more palpable in his presence than normal.
Finishing the toy soldier in his hand, Timo stood it next to its fellows to dry and picked up the next one. If he could just stop thinking about Berwald for a bit, maybe the last half hour would go a little faster. That was easier said than done, though. Berwald had been filling his mind for the last month and a half since he had walked (well, driven) back into Timo’s life. It was as though a missing part of him had returned, and even in private, Timo’s thoughts had been a lot less melancholy and full of fond memories or exciting plans instead. Timo couldn’t text or phone Berwald as much as he’d like to because of the cost, but he had taken to texting Berwald goodnight when he could.
Even though he’d been thinking about Berwald, distracting himself from the time at least had worked. Timo jumped when the bell rang, signaling the end of his shift, and he finished the soldier he was painting and tidied up his workstation a bit for the next person before leaving with a happy hum. Soon! He moved with the crowd of his co-workers to his locker, out of which he pulled his jacket, a change of shirt and a plastic bag, inside which was a large container with a sweet fruit soup for them to have as dessert. He hoped it would be all right. He’d wanted to make Rönttönen, but the ingredients were too expensive.
Quickly changing his shirt there in the locker room, Timo folded the one he had been wearing and put it in the locker for later. His pulled his jacket on as he trotted away, back towards the exit. He waved goodbye to some of his co-workers before slipping out. The entrance to his work was actually down a side street, so Timo had suggested to Berwald that they meet in a place where he would be able to stop the van just round the corner. Smiling brightly, heart fluttering in excitement. If possible he grinned even brighter when he saw the van and rushed over to greet his re-found friend. “Berwald!” He waved happily. “I’ve missed you! How was work today? Did you get everything done you needed to?”
